Hospitals and Distance Rules
Distance-related rules are rapidly changing! Policies vary from hospital to hospital, but where many hospitals were not allowing more than one in-person support person (including a partner), more and more hospitals are beginning to allow a birth doula to accompany you and your partner during labor and delivery. However, since this varies by facility, we will need to check with your provider. Even if your birth doula cannot enter the hospital with you, we are still able to provide virtual support and in-home care after you return home.
What is Virtual Doula Support?
Virtual doula support allows our trained professionals to provide emotional and informational support to our clients in need without requiring physical closeness at the hospital. You will also have your birth doula on a video call during labor to offer emotional support, verbal birth coaching, and answer questions.
We will also spend one-on-one time with you and your partner to ensure your partner is prepared to help you with various techniques and comfort measures during labor and delivery.
Empowerment
The support a doula offers is in part to create and maintain a peaceful and relaxing space for the birthing woman to feel empowered to speak, be heard, and successfully deliver baby. Through phone and video calls, this support continues to be an option for clients. You can depend on the same level of care and attentiveness, as we are committed to ensuring you have the support you need during your birth experience.
Distance Learning
For widespread connectivity and education, BabyMeDoulas and other agencies are offering online classes every day. We provide lactation classes, childbirth classes, classes for partners, meditation sessions for birthing women, and postpartum preparation classes. Our classes fill up quickly, so please subscribe for up-to-date information.
